An Introduction to My Blog

Although the heading of this blog might seem apparent enough, let me elaborate. My time at Quinnipiac University has taught me something very important about the blog community and that is that about 98% of blogs are entirely opinion-based with very little fact mixed in. This will not be the case in this blog. Rather, I will be paying close attention to the top contenders for the Democratic Nomination for President–what they are doing and saying as well as discussing and comparing their various policies. I will of course also be adding my opinion, but the facts I present will be attributed to legitimate news sources such as the NY Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, and all the campaign websites (though I recognize that those sites are essentially all public relations and biased).

At this point the top contenders, as I like to call them, for the Nomination are Hillary Clinton, Berak Obama, and John Edwards, so my focus will be on them for the present. Rest assured that if any of the other candidates makes headway in the race I will discuss it. After all, once the news media has sufficiently abused Don Imus and exhausted every angle of the VA Tech tragedy, political coverage will become quite extensive–I cannot cover everything but I will try and make this blog as interesting and enlightening as possible.

I welcome everyone’s comments and ideas, regardless of political affiliations. Elections do not belong to any single political party. Democracy is about open dialogue, understanding, and the sharing of ideas.

I look forward to discussing the world of politics with all of you interested.

Best Regards,

Tom.
